Now onto Fun Friday!
We had a Jingle, Jangle time celebrating Christmas on our last Fun Friday before the holiday break. I started the day telling the class that when they heard my little bell jingle, they had to stop what they were doing and give a friend a hug. That followed with the words Merry Christmas! As the students were playing and mingling with friends, two friends were called to go with two teachers to work on picking a small gift for a friend then decorate a bag to put it in and hide under the tree until time to pass them out.
We drew Christmas trees all green and red on white boards and decorated them so pretty. We made red and green chain links for some added fun and enhancing our fine motor skills. Some of us colored, cut and glued Christmas trees, candy canes and lollipops. We matched some Christmas words and made a small book about Santa getting dressed. We listened to books on tape about Santa getting stuck in the chimney and one about a dog that wanted a boy for Christmas. A new song was introduced called Hanukkah which helped them learn 1st, 2nd, etc -8th and to recognize numbers.
Our snack was a fruity Grinch the children assembled and devoured. No complaints were heard.
Ha ha!
Before the children left for the day, I mentioned that I hoped they learned two things today. One is that Christmas is not all about us but about that little baby that came for us all and to not be a Grinch but go and make people smile and be happy. I think we all did that today.
