Howl, Dear Parents!
This week we learned so much through fun ways of play. We started with painting the student's faces to resemble Indian braves and squalls. We made beautiful Indian headbands to practice our cutting and gluing. We talked about the Native Americans that started this great country. We learned how they lived and how they had to make everything they had from nature outside. Since hunting was necessary for survival, we practiced on my bow and arrow in hope of spying a big turkey before Thanksgiving day. We sat Indian style on the carpet and had a Powwow. We started with a pretend peace pipe for allowing only peaceful spirits. We had a picture book showing the Indians and we talked about their customs and ways of life in their reservations. We sang and danced as the Indian did. (More than once) and learned a little Indian language. How I love this time of year!
