Week #38

This was our last school week for the spring of 2013. We did lots of playing and celebrated some summer birthdays. We talked about summer and all the fun things we will be doing. We finally concluded the alphabet with letter Zz and stamped it on our learning card to learn some games they can do with it over the summer. This will help to reinforce all the letters we studied over our time together. I also encouraged them to read a book everyday and to visit the library. We put Wally in his little ball while I cleaned out his cage to prepare him for his summer vacation to my house this summer. His suitcase is all packed for the months ahead. My grand kids can not wait to see him again. We talked about Dad's special day coming soon and read a book, "Just Like Dad". We also read a book "The Night Before Summer Vacation". The children enjoy both stories which were very fitting for this time of year. I hope they remember to give their Dad a hug and kiss on their special day.
The highlight of the week was watching the big kids graduate. The children sat with their eyes glued to the stage. They know that next year will be their turn.
Ms. Brenda and I have a grateful heart for all the words, gifts, hugs, and cards that came our way this week. Thanks you parents for making this first year so special. We are looking forward to another wonderful one ahead!
Last but not least, is the picture of Abby, our friend, saying good-bye as she moves into another wonderful adventure working with children. We wish her the best and will miss her.  We are better people for knowing her and working with her through the years at PromiseLand.

Week #37

Welcome back! This week we put together a small book with the children to help increase their memory and learn to use the letter sounds to hep figure out what the picture is telling us.  I was so happy to hear them read and they promised me they would read it to their family members.  I could tell that it really did boost their self-esteem.  Then we went on a spring nature walk. We found a few treasures to add to our bags for taking home and even saw a baby bird learning to fly off its nest.  We walked down to the ball field and taught them the proper way to run the bases. We had a picnic on the blanket then did a little water play and had fun with the parachute.  We even played some beach ball volleyball.  We rode trikes and ended our week in the playground making rock pies, milk shakes, chicken nuggets and french fries.  I do not recommend anyone to eat anything made from the playground but do not tell the students. Ha ha!
Have a wonderful week-end!
